Nano infusion is one of my favorite ways to give my skin that plump, smooth, hydrated look. If you’ve seen me using my Dr. Pen and wondered how this differs from microneedling, here’s the explanation.
What is nano infusion?
Nano infusion, also called nano needling or nano microneedling, is one of my favorite ways to boost glow, hydration, and product absorption.
Instead of needles, nano cartridges use tiny silicone or rubber pyramid tips, usually round or square tipped, to gently press skincare into the very top layer of the skin (epidermis). It does NOT create the deeper controlled injury that traditional microneedling does, which is why it is such a great place to start if you are new to at home microneedling.
Nano infusion helps your skin absorb serums more effectively and gives the prettiest hydrated, glass skin glow. I love using it with my skin flooding routine because it helps push all of those hydrating toners and serums into the outer layer of my skin.
Is nano infusion the same as microneedling?
No. Nano infusion uses a different cartridge from traditional microneedling. A nano cartridge has tiny silicone or rubber tips (no needles) that work at the surface of your skin. The focus is hydration and that fresh, dewy look.
What serums do I use for nano infusion?
You don’t have to use specific nano infusion products. If you already have a gentle hydrating serum at home, that’s suitable for nano infusion so you don’t necessarily need to buy something new. Hyaluronic acid is a great option.
I keep my serum choices simple. I prefer gentle, hydrating, barrier-friendly products rather than strong actives or exfoliating ingredients.
Which nano cartridge should I use?
I prefer a round nano cartridge for covering my entire face, because it glides easily over contours. A square cartridge is great for covering a small targeted area.
What does nano infusion feel like?
It’s very relaxing to me. I barely feel anything, and it doesn’t hurt in my experience. However, everyone’s skin is different, and redness or irritation can happen.
Why I love nano infusion for healthy, hydrated skin after 40
I love nano infusion because it gives me that glass skin look the next day. My skin looks plump, smooth, and so hydrated, which is why I especially love this treatment when I have an event coming up.
It has become one of my favorite ways to get an extra glow alongside my regular skincare routine.
