My Morning Anti-Aging Skincare Routine: Make It Work for Your Skin

I don’t share my full morning and nighttime skincare routines very often because there are so many steps, and I know that can feel overwhelming.

Everyone’s skincare routine looks different, and mine? Mine is a lot. I just love skincare.

Some people find one skincare line they love and use everything from that brand. I am not that girl. I’m a more the merrier kind of girl. And surprisingly, I love over-the-counter (or from Amazon!) skincare.

I don’t think skincare has to be expensive to work. You can build an effective anti-aging skincare routine with affordable products that work well for your skin.

How many steps should your skincare routine have?

Personally, my skincare routine has a lot of steps.

I probably have 30 toners that I rotate through and seven to ten serums in my rotation. But that doesn’t mean I use every one of them every day. I have favorites I keep coming back to, and I’m always switching things up depending on what my skin needs.

My morning anti-aging skincare routine focuses on hydration, keeping my skin looking plump, and protecting it with sunscreen.

My #1 tip for healthy, hydrated skin: Start your morning skincare routine with skin flooding

If you’ve never tried skin flooding, start with one hydrating toner. You don’t need four or five different ones.

On slightly damp skin, use a spray toner or gently press in a thin layer of a hydrating toner. Try two or three layers of that same toner and see how your skin likes it.

Choose a hydrating toner rather than an exfoliating toner for this step because the goal is hydration.

Skincare is something I enjoy taking my time with, but your routine can be much simpler than mine. Here’s a simpler version you can start with:

A simple morning anti-aging skincare routine

  1. Wash your face.

  2. Apply a few thin layers of hydrating toner.

  3. Apply vitamin C, if it works well for your skin.

  4. Apply a hydrating serum or an anti-aging serum based on your skin’s needs.

  5. Apply moisturizer.

  6. Finish with sunscreen.

You can keep it even simpler with cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, then add products based on your skin’s needs.

The most important thing is that you build a routine you actually enjoy.

My routine is long because I enjoy it. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need to copy every product or every step to take care of your skin. Start with a routine that fits your skin, your budget, and the time you have. You can always build from there.

If you’re looking at all these steps and wondering where to start, I’d love to build a skincare routine for you. Whether you want to keep it simple or enjoy a few extra steps like I do, your routine should work for you.

Because great skin doesn’t have to be complicated or unaffordable, it just has to be right for your skin.
